Drill Less Dentistry

A gentler way to treat tooth decay

Picture

There's an alternative to the dental drill which creates a faster, more comfortable visit to the dentist. It is ideal for removing cavities and getting teeth ready for white fillings.

It's called AIR ABRASION. This instrument works like an extremely precise miniature sandblaster. It blows air while spraying a stream of tiny particles too small to be seen with the naked eye onto the tooth to wear away decay. This action is so gentle, that it allows us to treat decay at an earlier stage without removing as much healthy tooth structure and it can often be used without anaesthetic – no needle and no drill. The result is smaller fillings and teeth that last longer.

Patients love AIR ABRASION because of how good it feels. There's none of the heat and vibration associated with traditional drilling and there's no whirring sound that puts many patients on edge. The most noticeable sound you'll hear is the suction system picking up the loose particles from your mouth.
